Xeriscaping

Xeriscaping is a term that came about in the early 1980's. The term is credited to the Denver Water Department coming from the Greek "xeros" meaning dry and "scape" as in landscape.  Xeriscaping is not one type of planting but the use of colorful water saving plants that work in your environment. Basically, xeriscaping is the conservation of water through creative landscape.

Many who choose to xeriscape do away with grass altogether while others do a combination of the two. Whichever you choose, xeriscaping can be a quite beautiful addition to your landscape.

There are a large variety of drought resistant plants, flowers, and shrubs to choose from for almost any climate.  Xeriscaping can be modified to most any climate in North America.

Even in areas of the country that we traditionally think of as fairly wet climates can have periods of drought. With xeriscaping you will never have to worry about those times where there is a lack of water. You will be able to maintain your landscape with a minimum of watering.
